Idea No. 70: Paper Pyramids

the idea: teach about Egypt by making pyramids out of paper

I’m sick.

It sucks.

But life goes on, classes have to happen.

Today I dragged myself out of bed to go teach.  To lessen the amount of time I was going to spend dragging my germs all over Boston, I decided not to go to work first to get supplies.  Rest wise this was good, but it did mean that I had to figure out how to teach a class based off the MFA’s collection using only the art supplies in my apartment.

I ended up doing paper pyramids.  I had a laminated picture of Pharaoh Menkaura from yesterday’s class (unfortunately I did a clay activity then and I ran out of clay) so I used that and some books I had on Pharaohs and Pyramids to discuss the art part.

With the older students I asked them to help me experiment so we could all figure out how to make a pyramid together.  From my work with them I made a template for the younger class and it all went well.  Now I’m back in bed, chugging more water, and hoping that this damn cold goes away.
