the idea: create a website/online community called Idenation

So I’ve been thinking a lot about the Idea Can and I really want to go communal with it but I’m not sure how.  Also, ideacan.com is taken so my creative brain is kicking in.  Not that my creative brain should be focusing on this right now, what with a thesis in the process of being written and whatever, but that’s where it is.

Idenation came from my discovery of the word “ideate” which literally means to come up with ideas.  From that word you can get also sorts of wonderful conjugations: ideating, ideation, ideator, etc.  Some of these are real words and some of them definitely should be.

The Idenation would be a pace for creative to go and share their ideas, grow their ideas, and find collaborators for their ideas.  I could go cheesy and everyone could get their plot of land so that they could “plant” their seeds (a phrase I use way too often about baby ideas).  Or I could go for the Idenation Dump where all the extra ideas go.  Then people could search through the trash to find gold.

This isn’t a project I should take on right now but it just isn’t going away.  I’ve realized that I need some time for ideas to ferment in my mind (or for them to grow once I plant the seed).  So this idea, the idea for Idenation or whatever it ends up being called, is growing.  Steadily growing.  Hopefully someday, years from now, I can look back on these and the other Idea Can blog posts and say “See, that’s where it came from.”
