the idea: to buy like an artist make your own art and trade it

You know you’ve entered the right world when you can go to an open mic with a friend of a friend, have a blast playing music together even though you never have before, and then trade your book for her CD.

Obviously, I should write a song about this and play it at the open mic in a few weeks.

But, in all seriousness, a very interesting part of the art world lives off of people trading art, giving art as gifts, and generally spreading their creations in whatever way they can.  In this way we share and celebrate our inspirations and what has come of them with each other.
