the idea: combine my doodle designs with my abstract paintings
I’ve been a bit blocked lately when it comes to my oil paintings. I’ve gone into the studio and looked around but haven’t been able to make myself actually do anything. And yet my creative energy still needs to go somewhere.
I’ve been writing a lot, playing music, and in the end started a new acrylic painting. I haven’t spent much time with acrylics but I decided that just because I wasn’t up for oil painting in my studio didn’t mean that I wasn’t up for painting. So I brought my acrylics down to the living room and set to work.
I made a nice bright background with some of my favorite blues and purples but then instead of proceeding with my traditional abstract art, I decided to see if I could work in the kind of designs that I use to doodle. It’s still in the beginning stages, but hopefully it will go somewhere interesting.
