the idea: pull out all of the quotes I starred from my reading
I’m starting to get to the serious part of my thesis. Past the fun “I have this brilliant idea!” part, even past the “I can’t wait to get started!” part. I’m in the “Oh crap, what am I actually saying?” part. Thus the picture.
Not only do I have to write a book, I have to write a 30 page minimum paper about why I’m writing a book. Now, I tend to be a person who thinks things through by doing them. This means that when I’m asked to explain what I’m doing before I’m done I often freeze. Or babble. Neither of which are good for a thesis rationale.
I know it’s all connected. I know what I’m doing is important and I strongly believe that it will get out into the world and be seen. But the problem is, I can’t exactly tell you why. I can’t even really tell you what the book is about yet. I have the title, I’ve even written a good portion of it, but nothing in concise. I don’t have a succinct elevator speech to convince people to love what I do, let alone enough to fill up over 30 pages.
So today as I finally turned off Netflix and sat down to really make progress on this thesis rationale, I pulled all the books off my shelf and have them sitting around me in a halo. As an avid underliner, all the books are marked up so that I can pull out important parts. I’ve spent the last hour filling out an outline full of quotes in order to hopefully be able to figure out what the hell I am writing.
