the idea: start with a line, make a design
Creating chaos is one of my favorite things to do in art. By chaos I mean a mess or a problem that you then have to sort out. That’s what is interesting. Often this means splatters of color, strange combinations of design that fill up a canvas, but I’ve managed to translate that same sensibility into doodles as well.
Today, while trying to keep myself engaged during class, I started one of the typical doodles that I do. But even as I started I felt my interest waning. Instead of sticking with the same style, I decide to make a squiggle. Then I had to find some way to make sense between the beginning of my original doodle and the squiggle. Out of that came a design.
