the (dated) idea: take a regular jean jacket, fit it, and paint it.
today’s idea: photograph the painted jacket I made in college
I was actually about to type up a different idea and I was looking for what I needed to photograph that idea when I stumbled across my painted jacket.
I used to wear this all the time in college. In fact, from some pictures I can tell what year it was by what stage my jacket was in. New, sewn to fit, and then painted.
When I sit down to write down these blog posts, I often try to think of an idea that came to me that day. But sometimes I cast around my apartment and I’m amazed by what I find. In fact, in the next few days there will probably be a few more ideas that I am scrounging up from years past. The best thing is that now the end products of these ideas have found their way into my everyday life.
My painted jacket was one in a long and still-going series of painted objects that I use everyday. Most recently I painted my second guitar case. This is the only one I’ve blogged about, but the others may find their way on here.
The second idea came about because I wanted to take a cool picture of my favorite jacket. The wall-to-wall bookshelf in my apartment seemed like a good setting, so that’s how that happened.
