Idea No. 213: The Moonshine Music Series

the idea: get a bunch of people out to a farm for music, veggies, and art

the ideator: Avi Salloway

Through a series of fortunate events I was asked by Avi’s girlfriend, Laura, to come be manage the arts tent this past Sunday at the Moonshine Music Series.  This small series of festivals takes place on the White Barn Farm out in Wrentham, MA, a town I had never been too before Sunday.  But, I think that’s part of the point.  By bringing musicians out to the farm, people come too.  Even some city people, like me, who haven’t seen a farm in quite sometime.  (Apart from that whole camping on a farm for a weekend during the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival).

There were three wonderful bands who all played their sets, sold their CDs, and mingled with the crowd.  Several people participated in the Something City, Wrentham, and others added to the communal paintings or got their face painted.  After a weekend full of art and people, I was feeling quite introverted and sat at the top of the little hilling, watching over the arts, listening to the music, watching the people, and reading my book.  All in all, I would highly recommend this as a way to spend a beautiful end of summer Sunday.
