the idea: create a public art project addressing street harassment
the ideator: Tatyana Fazlalizadeh
Stop Telling Women to Smile is an incredible public art project by Brooklyn-based artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. In it, she has started collecting portraits and stories of women who have been harassed which she combines to make haunting pictures that stare back from the walls of the city.
The work has already gone up in Brooklyn and Philedaelphia and now Fazlalizadeh is looking to expand. She’s started a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money to bring this project to several different cities. But she doesn’t just want to stick up the posters she already has, Fazlalizadeh is looking to interview more women, make new pictures, and discover how street harassment varies in cities across the USA from L.A. to Boston
