the idea: draw the background for a poster promoting my mother’s student’s version of the Jungle Book
This is the type of thing that happens when you come from a creative family. My mother is a technical theater director at a K-12 school and as such does a bunch of shows every year. This year she actually directed one of the middle school shows, a musical version of the Jungle Book.
Rather than pull images together off of the internet (or whatever school productions do to create their posters) my mother asked me to draw the background image. She sent me a few images, we agreed on a price, and I spent the better part of a weekend covered in pencil shavings.
I didn’t see the finished version with the text on top until tonight, a couple weeks after the show, but now that I did I have to share it.
