Idea No. 141: Let the Kids Play

the idea: ask the kids if they want to play.

Over the past year or so I’ve spent quite a few Thursdays in Medford at the Farmer’s Market going back and forth between telling stories and playing songs.  Through my visits I’ve developed some followers who are always thrilled to see me, which is of course very flattering.

The two boys in the video below are always particularly enthusiastic.  The first time they came to hear me tell a story they started acting it out and as soon as I was done they started telling me stories instead.  This time, when I saw them in January, their mother informed me that as soon as they saw that I was playing again at the Farmer’s Market the younger brother said, “She’s my biggest fan!”

So, of course, when they came to listen to me sing and decided to talk to me the whole time, I ended up taking a break from my songs and asking them if they wanted to play.  Despite the fact that the guitar was bigger than both boys, they enthusiastically agreed.
