Idea No. 216: The Micro Museum

the idea: a new forum for tiny, local masterpieces

the ideator: Judith Klausner and Steve Pomeroy

The Micro Museum in Union Square is officially open!

The tiny, completely un-intimidating museum showcases local artists in miniature.  It was, in part, inspired by the fact that Somerville, MA is the city with the second highest number of artists per capita in the US.  Judith Klausner, one of the founders of the Micro Museum, is also one of the many artists who populate Somerville.  She spent three years dreaming of and planning for the Micro Museum along with her co-founder, Steve Pomeroy.

The opening reception took place yesterday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at 72 1/2 Union Square.  The founders describe the location as “between the Subway and the Independent,” but I can’t help but think of it as the next stop after Platform 9 and 3/4.  Yes, I took the obvious leap.  And I’m not ashamed of it.
