Idea No. 22: Sprinkle Art

I love birthdays because I love to celebrate the people I love.  It’s a little hypocritical because my birthday sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable.  I don’t like fake care and high hopes, but true heartfelt comradery is always a wonderful birthday gift.

Two days ago was Alicia‘s birthday.  As one of my newest close friends she got the full brunt of my birthday celebrations.  Usually I make a homemade cake and get a gift or take my friends out somewhere (there was a memorable birthday where we kidnapped a friend of mine, blindfolded her, and brought her to an ice skating rink a half an hour away).  My life has been all over the place recently so I didn’t have the time or mental energy to deal with baking from scratch, so instead I fell back on Funfetti cake.

It wasn’t my proudest birthday moment, so I decided that I would make up for it with decoration (and by putting jelly inside, which was delicious).  Of course, then I realized I didn’t have anything to decorate with!  I found some sugar sprinkles from an earlier project and decided to make a painting from the sprinkles.  Of course I fell back on the trees, green grass, and blue sky image.  But it worked!

It might not have been the most artistic thing ever, but I was still proud.  And it’s the thought that counts.  Right?
